EDI Enrollment
Electronic Data Interchange enrollment with your payers and clearinghouse — so claims, eligibility checks and status inquiries move electronically from day one.
Electronic claims do not start working just because your software supports them. Each payer must enroll your practice for electronic submission — approving your submitter, tax ID and provider records — before it will accept your 837 files. Elite Bill Care's EDI enrollment service completes these enrollments with your clearinghouse and payers as part of credentialing & enrollment, so electronic billing starts on schedule.

The transactions EDI enrollment unlocks
- 837 — electronic claim submission (see claim submission).
- 270/271 — eligibility inquiries and responses (see eligibility verification).
- 276/277 — claim status inquiries used in AR follow-up.
- 835 — electronic remittance, enabled through ERA enrollment, with payments via EFT setup.
How enrollment proceeds
- Payer inventory — every payer you bill is listed with its EDI requirements; some enroll through the clearinghouse, some directly, a few still require forms.
- Applications submitted — with the correct submitter IDs, TIN/NPI combinations and group linkages.
- Testing where required — certain payers (notably some Medicaid programs) require test files before production approval.
- Approvals confirmed — production status verified payer by payer; nothing is assumed live because a form was sent.
Why this is bundled with credentialing
EDI approval depends on enrollment data being correct — an NPI/TIN mismatch stalls both processes identically. Running them together, inside our medical billing services, means the record the payer credentials is the same record your claims submit under.
Frequently asked questions
How long does EDI enrollment take?
It varies by payer — clearinghouse-based enrollments are typically quick, while direct and Medicaid enrollments can take longer and may include testing. We give you the payer-by-payer status rather than a single optimistic date.
Can we keep submitting on paper during enrollment?
Where a payer still accepts paper, yes — but the goal is the shortest possible transition, and paper claims are tracked with the same acceptance discipline.
Do we need a clearinghouse account?
Electronic submission runs through a clearinghouse; if you have one, we enroll within it. If not, setting one up is part of our practice setup work.
