Medical Billing Tools
Free, no-sign-up calculators built for practice owners, office managers and billers. Work out your days in AR, what denials are really costing you, your claim filing deadlines, and your true collection rate — in under a minute each.
Most billing problems hide inside a handful of numbers. These free tools surface them. Each calculator uses the standard formula the industry uses, explains what your result means, and links to a full guide when you want to go deeper. Nothing you type is sent anywhere — the math happens in your browser.
The tools
- Days in AR Calculator — how many days of revenue are sitting uncollected in your accounts receivable, and whether that number is healthy.
- Denial Cost Calculator — what claim denials cost your practice per year, counting both the dollars never recovered and the staff time spent reworking them.
- Timely Filing Deadline Calculator — enter a date of service and a payer type and get the last day a claim can be filed, including Medicare's statutory deadline.
- Net Collection Rate Calculator — the percentage of collectible money your practice actually collects, after contractual adjustments.
- Denial Code Lookup — type any CARC denial code (CO-45, CO-97, CO-197) or a keyword and get its meaning, usual cause and the fix.
- Patient Responsibility Estimator — work out what a patient owes from the allowed amount, remaining deductible and coinsurance.
- Credentialing Date Calculator — next CAQH attestation (120-day cycle) and Medicare revalidation (5-year cycle) due dates.
- State Medical License Guide — pick a profession (MD/DO or nurse practitioner) and any state to get its licensing board, the official application link, required documents and compact status.
- Credentialing & Payer Enrollment Guide — pick Medicare, Medicaid (any state), your state’s Blue plan or a national payer to get its application route, requirements, documents and typical timelines.
Why these four numbers matter
Days in AR and the net collection rate are two of the core medical billing KPIs every practice should review monthly. Denials quietly tax all of them: a denied claim raises AR days, lowers collections, and consumes staff hours that never appear on any report. And every one of those numbers is meaningless if a claim goes out after its timely filing limit, when the collectible amount becomes zero by rule.
If a result surprises you, the linked guides explain how to move it — or our team can run the numbers with you on a free consultation.
Frequently asked questions
Are these calculators free to use?
Yes. All of these tools are free, need no account or email, and run entirely in your browser — the figures you enter are never sent to or stored by Elite Bill Care.
Where do the formulas come from?
Each tool uses the standard definition used across medical billing: days in AR is total receivables divided by average daily charges; net collection rate is payments divided by charges minus contractual adjustments; the timely filing calculator applies Medicare's statutory filing deadline and payer day-counts you can adjust.
How accurate is the denial cost calculator?
It is an estimate built from your own inputs — claim volume, average claim value, denial rate and recovery rate. The rework cost per denied claim is pre-filled with a widely used planning figure of $25, and you can change it to match your own staffing costs.
