PECOS Enrollment
Medicare enrollment through PECOS — applications, revalidations and record changes prepared accurately and tracked to approval.
To bill Medicare, a provider or practice must be enrolled — and the enrollment record lives in PECOS (Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership System). Errors and stale records in PECOS cause rejected applications, deactivated billing privileges and missed revalidation deadlines. Elite Bill Care prepares and manages PECOS enrollments as part of our credentialing & enrollment service.

What we handle in PECOS
- Initial enrollments — individuals (CMS-855I), groups and organizations (CMS-855B), and reassignments of benefits (CMS-855R) prepared via PECOS with the correct effective-date handling.
- Revalidations — Medicare requires enrolled providers to revalidate on a recurring cycle (generally every five years, three for DME suppliers); we track your due dates from the Medicare revalidation list and file on time — a missed revalidation can deactivate billing privileges.
- Record changes — practice locations, ownership (CMS-855 changes of information/ownership), correspondence addresses and banking kept current within Medicare's required reporting windows.
- Supporting documentation — licenses, IRS documents (CP-575 / EIN confirmation), voided checks or bank letters and ownership disclosures assembled exactly as the Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) requires.
- Status tracking — applications followed through MAC development requests until approval, with the enrollment record verified at the end (see also provider enrollment).
PECOS inside the bigger record
PECOS data must agree with your NPI registry record, your CAQH ProFile and your state license — Medicare and commercial payers cross-check them. Managing these as one record set, inside full medical billing services, is how enrollment problems stop recurring.
Frequently asked questions
How long does Medicare enrollment take?
Processing times rest with the MAC and vary by application type and completeness; clean, complete applications move fastest. We give you the realistic range for your MAC and application type in your consultation, and track the application throughout.
What happens if we miss a revalidation deadline?
Medicare may deactivate billing privileges, and claims for the gap period are at risk. If you receive a revalidation notice — or a deactivation — contact us immediately; reinstatement and reactivation paths exist but are time-sensitive.
Do you handle Medicaid enrollment too?
Yes — state Medicaid enrollment runs through each state's portal or forms and is managed alongside PECOS in our provider enrollment service.
