Gynecology Billing
Well-woman care, global obstetric packages and gynecologic procedures — OB/GYN billing that handles both halves of the specialty.
Gynecology billing spans two different worlds: preventive and office-based women's health, and — for OB/GYN practices — the global obstetric package that bundles nine months of care into one payment logic. Elite Bill Care's gynecology billing covers both, including practices that provide gynecology without obstetrics.

Gynecology and OB/GYN billing specifics
- Global OB package — total obstetric care (59400 family) vs. its components when care is split: antepartum visits (59425/59426), delivery-only and postpartum-only codes, and transfers of care mid-pregnancy billed exactly as the rules divide them.
- Well-woman and preventive visits — commercial preventive rules vs. Medicare's screening pelvic/Pap coverage rules, which are not the same benefit; problem-oriented services on the same day billed with correct modifier use.
- Office procedures — colposcopy (57452 family), endometrial and vulvar biopsies, IUD and implant insertion/removal (58300, 11981 family) with device J-codes billed so the device cost is actually recovered.
- Gynecologic ultrasound — pelvic and transvaginal studies (76830/76856 family) with medical-necessity documentation payers review closely.
- Contraceptive and menopause care — counseling and management visits coded by time/MDM with the preventive-visit boundary kept clean.
How we run it
OB cases are tracked as episodes from the first antepartum visit so the global claim assembles correctly at delivery, with split-care situations documented as they happen rather than reconstructed later. Office gynecology runs on daily charge entry with procedure–diagnosis checks under coding support. Authorizations for surgery are managed through prior authorization. See our billing services page for the full operation.
Frequently asked questions
Do you bill for gynecology-only practices (no obstetrics)?
Yes — the preventive, office-procedure and surgical gynecology workflow stands on its own; the OB components apply only where the practice delivers them.
How do you handle patients who transfer into or out of our care mid-pregnancy?
Split-care billing: antepartum-only, delivery-only or postpartum-only codes according to what your practice actually provided, with visit counts documented — the situation where global-package billing most often goes wrong.
Can you bill our in-office ultrasounds?
Yes — with the documentation and diagnosis support these services require, and component accuracy by site of service.
