Valant Billing Services
Complete medical billing run inside Valant — claims, posting, denials and reporting — inside your existing system. You keep your software, your data and your workflows; we supply the billing operation.
Valant is an EHR and practice management platform built specifically for behavioral health. Private practices, group practices and larger behavioral health organizations use it for scheduling, documentation, measurement-based care and billing shaped around therapy and psychiatry workflows rather than adapted from general medical software. If your practice runs on Valant, Elite Bill Care provides full Valant billing services inside your existing system — you keep your software, your data and your workflows; we supply the billing team that works it every day.
What we do inside Valant
- Eligibility and authorizations verified before sessions, including checks against the behavioral health carve-out payer when one administers the benefit (see eligibility verification).
- Claim submission on a daily rhythm, with session coding, units and telehealth indicators checked before claims go out (see electronic claim submission).
- ERA/EOB posting and reconciliation — payments matched to deposits and contractual adjustments verified (see payment posting).
- Denials and AR worked in-platform — every denial categorized, appealed and followed up inside the system your clinicians already use (see denial management and appeals).
- Reporting from Valant's own data — collections, aging and denial trends on a regular rhythm (see reporting and analytics).
Platform-specific workflow
Behavioral health billing turns on details Valant is built to capture: session length behind time-based codes, telehealth place-of-service and modifier rules that vary by payer, and authorizations that expire quietly mid-treatment-plan. Benefits are also frequently administered by a carve-out organization rather than the insurer named on the patient's card, so we verify against the payer that will actually adjudicate the claim — and we work Valant's claim queues daily, so a documentation or authorization gap surfaces before it hardens into a denial. We also reconcile the schedule against submitted claims, so a session that was held but never billed is caught the same week rather than at month-end.
Valant's structured documentation and measurement-based care tools support the medical-necessity record payers ask for when claims are reviewed. Our part is making sure the billed service, the documented session and the authorization on file agree with each other before the claim is submitted — the three-way match whose absence causes a large share of behavioral health denials. The same discipline applies to units and frequency: recurring therapy schedules make it easy for a claim series to drift past an authorized visit count, so we track authorizations against scheduled sessions and flag renewals before the last covered visit, not after the denial arrives.
No migration, no disruption
Onboarding is access and configuration, not a system change: named-user logins under our Business Associate Agreement, payer and clearinghouse connections verified, and billing begins in the platform your clinicians and front desk already know. See the full operation on our medical billing services page, or the other platforms on our software page.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need to give you our Valant login?
No — you create named-user accounts for our team inside your Valant system, with permissions limited to billing functions. That is the secure, auditable approach and standard in our BAA-covered onboarding. Your practice keeps ownership of the system and its data, and you can review or revoke our access at any time. Your clinicians keep their own accounts and workflows throughout — nothing about how your team uses Valant changes.
Our Valant AR has denials piling up — can you start there?
Yes. Starting with the backlog is common: we work the existing aging in Valant, categorize every open denial, appeal what is appealable with the session documentation attached, and correct and resubmit what is fixable. At the same time we fix the front-end cause — an expiring authorization, a telehealth modifier pattern, a carve-out payer being missed — so the backlog does not simply rebuild.
Do you handle telehealth sessions billed through Valant?
Yes. Telehealth is a large share of behavioral health volume, and we bill it through Valant with the place-of-service and modifier combination each payer requires — which typically differs between payers and changes over time. We also verify that the patient's plan covers telehealth for the service billed before the session, rather than learning otherwise from a denial.
